" But Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God and All these things will be added unto you." Matthew 6:33
In Loving Memory
Pastor Joseph Axtell
There are times in our lives when we are so shell shocked we can’t see clearly in any direction. That is where we are right now. Emotions though God-given, seem to cloud the thinking and distort the mind at times. We know this in our heads, but find it hard to move it 12 inches to our hearts. We are reminded of the Scripture which says we all see through a glass dimly……sometimes that glass is dimmer than other times, but what we do know……we know for certain. I know that my Redeemer lives (Job 19:25), and thus all of us who know and trust Him completely will live again, too, with our Savior. That is our HOPE, that is our JOY, that is our COMFORT.
Part of that God given comfort is YOU! You who have cried with us, hugged on us, loved on us, sang to us, prayed with us, read Scripture to us, called us, sent us messages, brought in food, put wood on our fires, sent cards, ran errands, mended our fence, cared for our animals, prepared our home for the storm, sent flowers, bought simple things to make our days easier, gave toward the Joe Axtell Memorial Fund, brought gifts, raked our leaves, did special things for the kids and grandkids, opened up your homes for our family and friends who came from afar, cleaned our house, answered multitudes of phone calls, fed the “five thousand” , and compassionately cared for over 1,000 people in one weekend,
~~~~YOU ARE AMAZING~~~~.
There are no words to adequately define our overwhelming sense of gratitude over what has been extended to all branches of our family. We marveled, and continue to marvel, at the mountain of grace that has been so lovingly poured out on us. Those family and friends far and near continue to comment on our fantastic church family. Their observations are clearly no surprise to me, but authenticate what Pastor Joe and I have said for many, many years. We have always been pleased and uplifted by the Body of Christ here at Sherman Bible Chapel, and we’re quick to honor what God has been doing among us all these years. You all worked together like a highly trained orchestra to accomplish all that you did for us and continue to do for us during our deep grief. It was and is a beautiful rendition for a life that was well lived and well loved. May you continue to honor God in all you do as you carry on the Work of God that has been entrusted to you through the teachings of your shepherd and mine, Pastor Joe.
“We were gentle among you, like a mother caring for her little children. We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God, but our lives as well, because you had become dear to us…… For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, encouraging, comforting, and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.” I Thessalonians 2: 7-8, 11-12
We love you all so very much!!
